​British Film Editors is a non-profit association of film and TV editors and assistant editors mainly based in the UK
Our aims are to:

Celebrate the art and science of film editing, in all its forms

Champion the work of our established members and to nurture our new talent

Promote the contributions that editors bring to the art of storytelling

Bring together editing professionals to share their experiences and practices

Forge and maintain links with similar organisations across the world

Contribute to the development of an inclusive and diverse industry by welcoming and supporting members from any race, gender, sexuality, religion, age, ability and socio-economic background
The BFE Cut Above Awards are the UK’s only awards ceremony solely dedicated to celebrating the craft of editing.

The Awards were founded in 2021 and have developed from an online and online/hybrid event to this year’s first ‘live’ BFE CUT ABOVE AWARDS
The riverside red carpet event will take place at the BFI on London’s Southbank on;

BFE Cut Above Awards Ceremony, BFI Southbank

The 2025 BFE Cut Above Awards ceremony will be held at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank. 450 guests will be greeted on the red carpet, offered a photo opportunity in front of our sponsor wall, then into the Riverfront and Balcony Bars for a welcome drink and canapes prepared by Benugo.
The winners will be revealed live at the celebrity hosted ceremony in the newly refurbished screen, NFT1 - a state of the art screening room, with 4k cinema projector and Dolby 3D. The ceremony will be live streamed and available online following the event.
After the ceremony, guests continue the night’s celebrations in the reception areas, accompanied by a DJ. Dance the night away, get silly with props in the photo booth, or enjoy the evening river view from the Balcony Bar. Canapes, bowl food plus 2 drinks will be offered to guests.

Following the Awards on 13th February, there will be a high profile breakfast panel on Saturday 15th February at Picturehouse Central. Hosted by Eddie Hamilton, ACE BFE, it will take a deep dive into the work of editors with a panel of BFE, BAFTA, Eddie and Oscar nominated editors.
