Barry recently wrote, directed and edited Son of the South, a feature film that has been sold to over 70 countries. The film premiered at the Deauville Film Festival in September 2021 and was released theatrically to great acclaim though out Europe early in 2022. Barry was nominated for an Oscar for his first film, the feature length documentary, The War At Home. He was nominated again in 2019 as the editor of Spike Lee’s Blackkklansman. His first feature, Lonely In America, was the hit of the MIFED festival when it came out - selling to as many countries as Son of the South. Barry has been the 2nd Unit Director and Editor of many of Spike Lee’s best films including, Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X, He Got Game, Summer of Same, 25th Hour, Inside Man and Blackkklansman. He has also worked closely with Indian Director Mira Nair for whom he cut Salaam Bombay and the critically acclaimed Disney African set feature, Queen of Katwe. As a director, he just finished a feature documentary titled, Wish to Live, and is currently completing a feature length documentary with famed health doctor, Valter Longo – author of the Longevity Diet.
